Red Bull Salzburg Transfer Round-up: January 13-19

Red Bull Salzburg look set to have a busy winter transfer window as the club not only looks to replace two instrumental figures Erling Håland and Takumi Minamino this month, but also fend off some of Europe’s elite trying to poach the club’s talent. Rumoured Arrivals

Name: Valon Berisha | Age: 26 | Club: Lazio | Nationality: Kosovo | Position: central midfield |Interested clubs: N/A | Offer: N/A | Source: Kronen Zeitung

Last week Red Bull Hub covered a report that Valon Berisha may be included in a swap deal in Lazio’s attempt to sign Dominik Szoboszlai. In an interview with Kronen Zeitung that was released on Monday, Christoph Freund stated that Valon Berisha will not be returning to Salzburg, “we have not even spoken to Valon about it“. Freund went on to say “that is not our model either [to re-sign players]. Bringing André Ramalho back was an exception“.

Rumoured Departures

Name: Hwang Hee-chan | Age: 23 | Interested clubs: Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lyon, Everton, Leicester City | Nationality: South Korea | Position: centre-forward | Offer: N/A | Source: Salzburger Nachrichten, The Athletic

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Graham Potter travelled to Hamburg last month to speak to Hwang’s representatives and the club can envisage signing the South Korean this window before sending him lack of loan until the end of the season. Wolverhampton Wanderers are also trying to secure his signature, while Everton and Leicester City are interested but do not intend to make an offer this month. However, Christoph Freund has explained that the 23-year-old, who does not have a release clause in his contract, will not be sold this winter even if an offer of €40 million is put forwards.
