Bragantino Transfer Round-up: December 23-29

The Brazilian transfer market opens on January 1, 2020 and Bragantino are heavily in the market for new signings as the club prepares for its first season in Série A since 1990. Red Bull Hub will provide a weekly round-up of all Bragantino’s arrivals, departures and rumours.

Thiago Ribeiro was an important part of Bragantino’s Série B triumph, but due to suffering from various injuries he was unable to feature in a bunch of matches and, as a result, the club didn’t extend his contract and he returned to Santos. The player was soon on the move again as Santos agreed to send him to Grêmio Novorizontino on a one-year loan.

Rumours

NAME: Matheus Jesus | AGE: 22 | CLUB: Corinthians | NATIONALITY: Brazil | POSITION: defensive midfielder | FEE: N/A | CONTRACT: one-year loan | Source: Globo Esporte

Recently bought by Corinthians following a successful loan from Estoril, Matheus Jesus is on the verge of joining Bragantino on loan for 2020 as the two clubs are in advanced talks. Bragantino will pay the entirety of his salary and will have an option to buy the defensive midfielder at the end of the season.

Palmeiras have reportedly accepted an offer of R$27 million for 21-year-old winger Artur. Bragantino will pay the fee in two R$13.5 million instalments, one of which coming this year and the next coming at the end of the 2020 season for 90% of the player’s economic rights. Ceará SC will receive €1 million from the deal due to a clause in his Palmeiras contract.

The Walce saga continues. Bragantino have fired another bid for the 20-year-old centre-back this week but to no avail. São Paulo want either more money or to maintain a greater percentage than the R$27.1 million for 80% of his economic rights.

Another ongoing saga is the Cleiton one. Bragantino insists on buying the player and have sent an new offer which is reported to be an undisclosed fee for 80% of the player’s economic rights, but Atlético Mineiro deemed it to low. To make things more difficult for Massa Bruta, Cleiton has signalled his desire to stay at the club and will only leave if he doesn’t receive a salary increase or he gets offer from a European club.
