RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg 2017/18 UEFA competition revenue revealed

The revenue RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg received for competing in Europe last season have been revealed after two documents detailing the finances were released on UEFA’s website on Thursday.

For their dramatic adventure into the depths of the Europa League, surpassing the round of 16 and reaching the semi-finals for the first time in the Red Bull era, Red Bull Salzburg were awarded just €10,873,020 (€2,600,000 participation bonus, €2,184,000 performances bonus, €2,239,020 market pool, €500,000 round of 32, €750,000 round of 16, €1,000,000 quarter-finals, €1,600,000 semi-finals).

On the other hand, RB Leipzig’s maiden European adventure that started in the Champions League group stage and ended in the Europa League quarter-finals at the hands of eventual runners-up, Olympique Marseille, earned the club €40,474,399, almost quadruple (3.7x) of what Salzburg got. €34,519,000 (€12,700,000 participation bonus, €3,762,000 performance bonus, €18,057,000 market pool) came from the Champions League and €5,955,399 (€3,705,399 market pool, €500,000 round of 32, €750,000 round of 16, €1,000,000 quarter-finals) from the Europa League.
