Wednesday night was one to forget for Red Bull Salzburg. Cruising to Champions League qualification for the first time ever with a two-goal lead entering the hour mark, two set-pieces and two headed goals in a two-minute spell saw Red Star Belgrade overturn the deficit in extraordinary fashion to earn a place in the competition, succumbing their hosts to a twelfth year of failure and another campaign in the Europa League.
While Salzburg were on the edge of glory but failed, RB Leipzig came so close to elimination yet succeeded. After a 0-0 draw in Ukraine last week, Die Roten Bullen took an early lead, but just after half-time Zorya Luhansk were 2-1 ahead, meaning the home side needed a minimum of two goals to avoid humiliation. Which was achieved through Jean-Kévin Augustin and Emil Forsberg, who was able to hold his nerve and slot home a 91st-minute penalty.
This afternoon the two clubs discovered their Europa League group stage opponents. This is how the draw panned out:
Group B : Red Bull Salzburg, Celtic, RB Leipzig, Rosenborg
