Two of the three teams that have started the season unbeaten will face each other on Friday evening in a battle of first versus third as Liefering make the trip north to come up against Ried at the Josko Arena.
Liefering will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the result that was achieved on their first trip to Reid im Innkreis last season. In a game that saw Siefedin Chabbi find the net four times as Ried came out 6-1 winners, its main talking point came in just the second minute of play. Igor was sent off for a last-man foul and Ried were awarded a penalty, despite the tackle taking place outside the area and the defender hadn’t even entered the area when the opponent went to ground. The penalty was saved but this gave the opposition the advantage for the remainder of the tie.
Last Friday Liefering came out victorious in the battle of the incubators. Despite Mahamadou Dembélé having a penalty saved in the first-half on his first appearance of the campaign, the hosts secured all three points against Young Violets Austria Vienna with three goals in twelve second-half minutes to maintain their winning start to the season.
Ried began their season with a 1-1 draw away to newly-promoted Vorwärts Steyr, but since then they’ve achieved back-to-back 2-1 against Wattens and Kapfenberg, which see’s them currently sit third in the table. Lassaad Chabbi will be looking to continue their momentum with a home win and put an end to their oppositions 100% start.
Kim Jung-min will be absent for this and the next few games as he is with the South Korea squad at the 2018 Asian Games.
