A battle of the incubator clubs commences this Friday as Liefering entertain Young Violets Austria Vienna at the Red Bull Arena.
Liefering have begun the season in an impressive manner and currently sit atop of the 2. Liga table. Starting with an away win on the first matchday, they welcomed Vorwärts Steyr to Wals-Siezenheim and disposed of them with ease, dominating the proceedings and coming out 4-0 victors in a game that saw a fantastic strike from Dominik Szoboszlai, which was included in Laola1’s top five goals of the week. A few days later, Liefering faced Hertha Berlin in a friendly and were comfortably beaten 4-1, with Jasper van der Werff scoring his maiden goal in Austria.
Young Violets Austria Vienna, on the other hand, began it with a 3-0 defeat on the road to Kapfenberg but were able to make up for it with an emphatic 4-3 win over Horn. Taking a two-goal lead into the half-time break, Horn made things interesting when Miroslav Milošević closed the gap to one from the penalty in the 61st-minute, but ten minutes later Aleksander Jukic secured the points for his side, despite Horn’s late efforts.
Mahamadou Dembélé made a 45-minute appearance in the defeat to Hertha midweek but it is unlikely to return to the starting XI. Ousmane Diakité is available for selection after serving his suspension.
