In an interview with Bild, RB Leipzig winger Bruma discussed new head coach Ralf Rangnick, his disappointment of not being called up to Fernando Santos’ Portugal squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, living in Leipzig, Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock move to Juventus and more.
Ralf Rangnick: “He is a very good coach with plenty of experience. He will make us all better and take us forward.
In the game, he demands a lot of aggressiveness. He was talking to me on the training ground last week: he told me that he demands a lot from me and that I have to stay tuned. He wants to keep pushing me. He demands a lot from the players, but he also cares about how they feel on and off the court. “
Galatasaray’s interest: “That was not an issue for me. Sure, Galatasaray is a big club and it honours me that they wanted me back. The club will always be in my heart. But, I have been travelling and loaned out a lot in the last few years. Now I want to assert myself here permanently.”
Objectives: “I want to help the team even more. I have to become more prolific and make more shots. And as a team, of course, we want to do everything we can to get us back into the Champions League or the Euro League.”
Europa League qualifier versus Häcken: “It may sound easier than it is. But Häcken is in the middle of the season and well-rehearsed. We are not 100 percent yet. Nevertheless, the opponent must not be a hurdle for us. We have to be very focused.”
National team: “Of course I was very disappointed that I did not make it to the World Cup. I thought I played a good season and of course had hopes. Unfortunately, it did not turn up. I want to quickly forget the disappointment and concentrate fully on Leipzig. My big goal is now the European Championship 2020.”
Cristiano Ronaldo: “I admire him. He is an extremely ambitious player, he wants to win titles and more titles. I think he will also have a successful time with Juve. We understand each other well, but we have little contact outside the national team.”
Living in Leipzig: “I like travelling to the city centre and like to eat sushi, there are many good restaurants. I live with a friend and my little dog Nega.”
